TrainPain is a new science based digital product designed to improve mental and emotional well-being for people living with neuropathic and fibromyalgia pain.
TrainPain enables you to train the neural circuits in the brain that control how you notice and respond to body sensations. Instead of being stuck focusing on pain, TrainPain exercises promote attentional flexibility and improved body awareness.
This is a selection of work from September 2021 – September 2022
TrainPain is a small startup and the core team consists of 7 people including myself. All of us work remote and we are located in many different countries; Israel, Sweden, Germany, Brazil.
My part-time assignment is art & creative direction and hands-on design of mobile game application, development of company brand and brand guidelines. I have created the UX overview (not showed here) and all UI assets using Figma and Adobe Illustrator. All illustrated artwork is created by an artist who has followed my directions.
When I started in autumn 2021 TrainPain was a game that worked good enough for their medical studies, but it looked unpolished and outdated, not coherent in function and style.
My mission was to enhance following:
Accessibility
Big enough assets, visible with good contrast and easy to differentiate in colour and shapes
Functionality
Easy to understand all functions with logic items and rules around colour and shapes to make gameplay as intuitive as possible
Localisation
Use of symbols instead of text where possible and centered text layouts which supports both languages written from left and from right
Theme
A relaxing theme and creation of assets belonging in that environment, while making sure characters and assets are likeable and not repellent in any way
Style
A fresh combination of a clean UI style and a cosy and friendly art style that hopefully won't look outdated anywhere soon
