With a more diverse cast of characters in your game-film-commercial video-books... more people can identify with them, which possibly leads to more people being interested in your product!
In 2016 I created the workshop Crush the Norm Diversity Rules together with my ex-King colleague Kriss Adolfsson. The training empowers the audience to create more inclusive and less stereotypical games. We invented Diversity Space, a paper tool and a process that helps people create diverse characters.
In June 2018 we started a collaboration with MIT Game Lab. Together with students from MIT and Harvard we created a digital Diversity Space tool which will help you make conscious decisions and ensure you’re exploring the whole toolbox when creating characters. The tool can give you a full view of the diversity level in your game. It’s not about setting limitations, it’s about opening up for new possibilities!
Hopefully it will become public one day even though both Kriss and I have left King.
